Building a Drug-Free Workplace

How big a problem is substance abuse in the workplace? When people report to work each day, do they leave their substance abuse problems at home? Of course not. These problems make their way into the workplace in many ways. Some are translated into frightening statistics. Nearly three-quarters of all drug users in the United States are employed. There are 8.1 million workers who are substance abusers. Nearly 60% of workers report that they know someone who has reported to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Alcoholism accounts for a loss of 500 million workdays each year. With the size of these numbers, the probability is that some of these abusers work for you.

The goal of this training is to educate the trainee in understanding the importance of a work environment free of substance abuse and their role in preventing it. As with all other HR Classroom trainings, any organization can quickly and easily bring their employees up to speed on these issues as well as fully document trainee activity. Your organization’s own policy can also be inserted directly into each training.
